Man, I know the feeling. It is easy to be consumed by it as well. My recent life changes are because of similar feelings. All I can really say is that no matter what it will get better. I did not believe it when I was told that it would, but slowly it has. You know where I am. You have my number.

I want to cry for you-- you need ben and jerry's and a good john hughes movie.
it always makes me feel better.

Man, that's an supersized dose of honesty. I think you're actually in an ok place: you have some perspective on what happened and maybe the sense that it's not going to work the way you want. Which, as much as it sucks, is better than the opposite. From here, all roads lead to better things. Except Canal Street, unless you're into knockoff purses and designer fragrances.

you need time ian. time is the only thing that heals. eight months is like yesterday. it's a wicked punishment. you've said your peace and if she has cut the rope then let it be. you will make yourself feel even smaller by always checking on your status. the best way to break is a clean one. you HAVE to forget her or no one will ever be able to compare..leaving you alone LONGER. watch the wedding singer.

I have tears in my eyes...
But it's also refreshing to read something that's just an honest look back at what happened.
I feel awful too for those I have hurt, and that sucks more than those that have hurt me. I feel for you, man! But it sounds like you've got a really good head on your shoulders and an interesting life...I know good things will come your way.

Ah, don't we all feel alike, for different reasons or maybe the same. I want a new life too. New horizons, that's what keeps us going. But sometimes, we have to remember that they may be just around the corner.

Hang in there. Be grateful you got to meet her and share those three years. We miss the people we've loved when we can't find a new intimacy, a new depth to share. And trust me, it will come in time. It will. You're a good guy, Ian, you're a really good guy. Have faith in yourself, and in life. Having faith is the most important.
